When you upgrade your old system, we refurbish and send it to hospitals in need.
Thompson Surgical is constantly working on new product upgrades and improvements and often offers “trade in” and “upgrade” discounts to our customers. As a result of our product upgrades and promotions, Thompson regularly receives older retractors back. The solution is to refurbish this equipment back to new and donate it to those who need it the most. Thompson understands the needs of surgeons involved in complex surgeries in challenging environments with limited resources and is pleased to donate anywhere from 8-10 retractor systems annually to places in need.
If you would like to join us in the Foundation’s efforts, or to find out if you may be eligible to receive a donation, please contact:
We believe in assisting hospitals around the globe by donating refurbished Thompson Retractors, to make modern surgery available. The Thompson Retractor Foundation has made donations to missionary surgeons working all over the world.

Protecting our Environment
At Thompson, we believe it is important to take care of our environment today to ensure a healthy planet for generations to come. Here’s how we’re reducing our carbon footprint:
We believe that being a responsible corporate citizen means giving back to the community. At least 10 percent of our profits are donated to charitable organizations all over the United States. We support organizations such as:
Thompson also donates to teaching hospitals and universities. Apply to receive a system for your teaching program.
We understand the importance of exposure during surgery as well as during surgical training. In an effort to support surgical education, we would like to partner with top universities and provide a Thompson Retractor at no cost to the Department of Surgery to be used for Physician Training.
When used in an educational setting, our retractors provide a better experience for students and residents. Our table-mounted retractors allow full concentration on the case, without the distraction of holding hand-held retractors in place.
There are a limited number of donations available each year. To be considered for a donation this year, please submit your application no later than June 30th.
Qualified recipients must be seeking a donation for the purpose of healthcare professional education.
